ROUGH OPENING SEQUENCE SCRIPT

OPENING SEQUENCE: This is just a rough script I was thinking about, and decided to write it down, so that I don't forget it, I will be writing a better one very soon.

SUSSIE AND HER DAD ARGUING IN THE CAR

Sussiee: Everything. Look at this place. It’s a mess. Is this the kind of environment you want your child to grow up in?
Dad: What are you talking about Sussiee? What is wrong with this place?
Sussiee: Dad! Come on! Can't you see? This place is not adapt for us.We are too rich to be living in a place like this.
Dad: Susiee! STOP IT! STOP IT!. I know where this conversation is leading to, and my answer is no we are not moving. And that is final.

Sussiee gets out of the car in anger, and decides to walk home. On her way, she passes through a park near her house, and she encounters a group of boys dancing. She stops to look at them dancing, but then she realizes that, the boys had stopped dancing to look at her, so she quickly walks off.

Boys: Yooo! Who is that??
Krushon: I don't know. But I will find out soon.
Boys : Hope you are not thinking of going to walk to her, are you?
Krushon : Yup! Exactly that.

Krushon walks over to Sussiee.

Boys: Where you going?? Krushon!  Krushon!

Krushon : Excuse me! Excuse me!

Sussiee turns to look at who he is referring to.

Krushon: Hey Miss!

Sussiee tries to walk off, but Krushon grabs her hand and pulls her back.

Sussiee: Why you touching me?
Krushon:  Hey! don't be rude. I just want to talk to you
Sussiee: ' Well I don’t. I don’t talk to boys like you.
Krushon : What! What do you mean?

Sussiee lets go off Krushon’s hands, and walks off.

Krushon follows her trying to catch up with her, whiles shouting wait! What do you mean by that?.

MY DAD IDEA FOR MY OPENING SEQUENCE ( EPIC FAIL)

Although I have my own own idea of how I want my opening sequence to be like, I decided to discuss it with my family member ( my dad) to see his point of view on it and see if he can give me more ideas, and this is the idea he came with:
An opening sequence like this:  DOWN OF THE DEAD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inmy6Bl3d70, horror movie full of zombies

In other words my dad wanted my opening sequence to be like this: have people costumed as zombies, terrorizing the street, chasing after people then one of the characters will wake up out of his sleep and realize that it was all a dream

AND I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA

Because:
1. I DON'T REALLY LIKE HORROR MOVIES
2. MY MOVIE IS SET FOR 12A, 15 AUDIENCES
3. I DON'T KNOW I AM GOING TO MANAGE TO PULL OF ZOMBIES TERRORIZING THE STREET
4. WE HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM DOING FLASH BACKS AND PEOPLE WAKING UP FROM DREAMS

So I guess I will just stick my idea of my opening sequence

OUTLINE OF MY STORY

JUST THE WAY I AM'

My movie is called 'JUST THE WAY I AM', based on a rich black girl (Sussiee), who leaves in a poor community, always pressuring her dad to move to a different place, but because of her dad's job he is not able to grant her daughters wish. So one day the girl had an argument with her dad and she decides  to take a long walk, during her walk she passes in front of an abandoned park, and encounters a group of boys dancing , as she passes by  one of the boys ( Krushon) stops her by holding her hand and pulling her back.. He tries to indulge himself in a conversation with her, but she lets him down by saying ' GIRLS OF MY STATUS DON'T LOWER THEM SELVES TO BOYS OF YOUR STATUS'.
As day and night passes by the boy finally gets the chance to get the girls attention and from there story continues.....

OPENING SEQUENCE:
My movie opens with Sussiee in the car with her dad having an argument, and then Sussiee gets out of the car in anger and decides to take a walk before she goes home. On her way she passes in front of an abandoned park and there she encounters of group of boys, and one of the boys called Krushon stops her, he tries to indulge himself in the conversation with her and she cuts him from talking and says 'I DON'T WAN'T TO TALK TO YOU'and she walks off.

CAMERA SHOTS:

 ·       EXTREME CLOSE UP SHOT: I am going to be using a close up shot at the beginning of my opening sequence when Sussiee and her dad are arguing in the car, showing their facial expressions

·       LONG SHOT: I am going to be using a long shot showing Sussiee walking though the long alleyway

·       CAMERA PANNING: following Sussiee's movements as she walks though the alleyway

 ·   OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT: as she stops in front of the park and watches the boys
Dancing

 ·       LONG SHOT:  showing Krushon as he walks away from his group towards Sussiee

 ·     MEDIUM SHOT: of the two characters having a conversation

·    ZOOM IN INTO A CLOSE UP SHOT: of Sussiee go of Krushon's hands

·    CLOSE UP SHOT: of Sussiee and Krushon facial expression as she tells him that ' SHE DOSEN'T WAN'T TO TALK TO HIM'
OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT/ LONG SHOT:  of Sussiee walking off and Krushon is left there watching her walk away

OPENING SEQUENCE SETTING:

My 1st setting will be in my main character (Sussiee's) dad’s car near their house
My 2nd setting is in an abandoned park
COSTUME:

Sussiee: simple and very classy, something similar to this :

Krushon:  (mix of bright coloured) skinny jeans, ultra coloured t-shirt/shirt/jumper and trainers (as I am not sure of what my male character will be wearing yet), likewise for the group of boys who will be dancing

Something likes this:

Ideas for my two minutes Opening Sequence Film

I have been thinking of my film opening sequence, and decided to look through couple of opening sequences on Youtube also looked at the different types of film genres preferred by people with the help of my survey. From the information I gathered, young adults prefer watching Romance, Fantasy,Horror, Action,Comedy movies.

I decided to write down a list of my favorite films, hopping to be able to find out my favorite Genres of films I prefer to be able to come up with the kind of genre film I want my two minutes film to be about .

This is a list of my favorite films:

1.Love & Basketball ( Romance,Drama)
2.The Proposal (Comedy,Romance)
3.Life As We Know It (Comedy,Romance)
4.The Way She Moves (Drama,Musical,Romance)
5.His just not that into you (Comedy,Romance)
6.Keith( Drama, Romance)
7.Honey (Drama,Musical,Romance)
8.Twilight ( Drama,Romance)
9.Saved (Comedy)
10. Why Did I Get Married (Romance,Drama,Comedy)
Looking at my list of my favorite film, I have realized that I am more into Romance,Comedy,Drama,Musical type of films, so I have decided that for my 2 minutes video I am going to do a mixed of genres between Romance,Drama and Musical.

As we have been advised to avoid :

Stalker following a woman in the woods
People tied up and trapped in rooms
Waking up, brushing teeth,getting ready
People playing cards
Flashbacks,flash-forwards
Person sticking knifes, pins into pictures

Linking to the fact that we have been asked to avoid the list above, I looked through couple of my favorite opening sequence, which I think may help me in my 2 minutes film, making sure that I avoided to look for opening sequence which contains the list above.
1.Freestyle

2.You got served

3.Love Jones
6.Keith ( couldn't get the link)
7.Honey :

With the help of my survey, and the list of my favorite movies and opening sequence I have been able to get an idea of how my opening sequence would be like, something pretty much like this

Freestyle movie :

I really love and enjoy watching this movie because it has all my favorite genres in it, Romance,Sport, a little bit of Drama ad musical, and I really like the opening sequence, the editing techniques as we see fast cuts used to show the different characters showing their different lifestyles , the female practicing her ballet dance and the male character playing street basketball with a group of boys, this already gives us an idea of the two characters, the female character appears to be a very posh and polite girl leaving in the rich girl life and the male character appears to be a hood rat, who does nothing else but play basketball with his group. Although they both have different lifestyles  they end up catching eye with each other and fall in love.

With the help of this movie opening sequence I have been able to come up with my own opening sequence, which is going to be almost the same thing as the Freestyle movie but mine is going to be about a street dancer who catches eye for a girl in his neighborhood, but gets disappointed when he realizes that him and the girl have different lifestyles and different way of living.
