NEW FILM OPENING SEQUENCE ' DIFFERENCES'

Due to the loss of my video camera, which I recorded my old film opening sequence ' JUST THE WAY I AM' I had to come up with a whole new idea for my film, and this is what I was able to come up with.

STORY LINE OF MY NEW FILM OPENING SEQUENCE ' DIFFERENCES'

My new film opening sequence is called ' Differences', about two young adults Joey Williams playing the lead role and Timi Roberts, playing basketball in their college basketball court. As the two are playing, my female character Priscovia passes by with her friend Natalie and the male character playing the lead role, Joey, tries to indulge himself in a conversation with her, as he is about to approach her, his friend Timi stops him and tries to warn him that, the girl he is trying to indulge himself with is a new girl who just started attending to the school, and that she is out of his league due to her wealthy status. Although Timi tries to be a good friend and warn him, Joey still goes on and tries his luck by approaching her in a friendly manner, but the female character rejects him by saying ' GIRL LIKE ME DON'T TALK TO BOYS LIKE YOU' claiming that he is to ghetto for her liken and walks off leaving Joey standing there whiles his friend Timi laughs at him.

HOW I CAME UP WITH THE IDEA

I was able to come with up this idea for my new opening sequence due to the situations I go through in my everyday life, seeing my own friends and family rejecting people, allowing their differences to separate them from socializing with others.

CHARACTERIATION

( FEMALE CHARACTER - PRISCOVIA)
Age: 16
Nationality: Nigerian
Education: Full time student
Character role: A very educated young teenage girl with a high self esteem. Due her parent’s wealth and high status, Priscovia has adopted an un-acceptable attitude towards people of a lower status compared to hers, as I would address her as a 'STUCK UP CHICK' meaning that she is too proud of her self. But as the film continues my male character Joel is able to change Pricovia into accepting people for who they are, weather their status being high or low.
Costume :

Pricovia has her own sense of style which kind of links to the style of Rihanna, as we can see her wearing a crop top and jeans shorts.

White crop top
Blue jean shorts
White All-star trainers

(MALE CHARACTER- JOEL WILLIAMS)

Age: 18
Nationality: Jamaican
Education: College drop out
Character role: College dropout, who prefers playing basketball with his friends, as he likes to call them his 'dawrgs'.Joel comes from a poor family leaving in a 'GHETTO' neighbourhood, due to the city he was born and raised in, he has adopted  a wild life/attitude such as being rude, arrogant and caring only about him/his friends/family and not allowing any girl to come between the three things mentioned. But as the film continues my female character Priscovia is able to change his way of leaving   and  they and up putting their differences aside and fall in-love.

Ghetto: A usually poor section of a city inhabited primarily by people of the same race, religion, or social background, often because of discrimination.
Costume :
Topless, Black jeans, black n white trainers, with grey boxers on display, due to his trousers being low. As we see in most Ghetto basketball films, most players play their games topless, with basketball shorts and their boxers on display. Example is the picture I have posted on the side,actors/ basketball players in the movie ' YOU GOT SERVED' which is based on the life’s of young adults who's life’s are based on dancing and playing basketball in their neighbourhood

LOCATION :

College Basketball court where the shooting of my opening sequence took place

PROP FOR MY OPENING SEQUENCE:

This is the main prop in my opening sequence, because it reflects on my male characters interest in sports, more than anything else.

MUSIC:

(Kid ink ft Man: Live it up)
I decided to use this song because it links perfectly with my opening sequence, this song emphasises on the fact people should stop rejecting each other, simply because some people are from different backgrounds, different race, and different statuses, because we have long days ahead of us, so instead of us to waste our time hating on each other, we should live it up and have fun, and level the cares in the world behind. So I decided to cut the sounds out of my opening sequence and only have the music playing at the background throughout, whiles the characters act. The music kind of narrates what is being displayed in the scene.
